Welcome to The Ark, a one-of-a-kind Sullivan’s Island beach house with more than 100 years of history, character, and Lowcountry charm. Built in 1908 and lovingly maintained by the Anderson family, this remarkable home is a true piece of the island’s past—and a wonderful place to create your own memories.

The home earned its name, “The Ark,” from a time long ago when it sheltered neighboring families during a hurricane. Its story is deeply connected to Sullivan’s Island and the historic neighborhood once known locally as “Andersonville,” a name used by residents during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The house itself was built from Anderson lumber and remains in the Anderson family today.

At approximately 2115 square feet, The Ark combines original architectural details with the comforts of modern beach living.

The Porch You’ll Never Want to Leave

Everyone says this is the best porch on Sullivan's Island—and once you settle into the hammock, you may agree.

The enormous screen porch spans the entire length of the front of the house, creating an incredible outdoor living space for morning coffee, afternoon naps, evening cocktails, family meals, or simply listening to and feeling the island breeze.

The main-level primary suite offers the convenience of having a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, while three additional large bedrooms on the 2nd floor provide plenty of space for family and friends.

With spacious closets in all four bedrooms, there's room to settle in comfortably for an extended stay.

The formal dining room is perfect for long dinners and shared meals after a day at the beach, while the screened porch is likely to become everyone's favorite gathering place.
