Marsa’s Place | Pet Friendly Vintage Beach Retreat, Shared Tidal Dock, Private Edingsville Beach Access & Marsh/Creek/Ocean Views
Settle into a classic Edisto Island beach house at Marsa’s Place, a charming 3BR/2.5BA vintage retreat (sleeps 7 | 1K, 2Q, 1 Futon) nestled beneath the live oaks in the gated community of Cowpens. Tucked between the Atlantic Ocean in front and Frampton Creek behind, this pet friendly home offers four porches, a shared tidal dock, and a short walk to private Edingsville Beach. Wake to wide ocean views, wander down to the creek, and choose a different porch for every mood.

Creekside Days & Edingsville Beach
Morning coffee can easily become an hour watching birds work the marsh. Dolphins visit the tidal creek. Cast a fishing line or lower a crab basket from the shared dock or settle into a porch rocker and let someone else catch supper. Stroll along a pleasant winding path past the lagoons leads to private Edingsville Beach, where you can walk the uncrowded shore, search for shells and sharks’ teeth, or spend an afternoon surf fishing. Beach access is on foot or by bicycle, and the walk is part of the experience. Nature supplies its own changing program. Watch monarch butterflies during their autumn migration, a doe and fawn beside the backyard creek, and shorebirds feeding in the marsh. Sea turtles’ nest on Edingsville Beach in season, and keeping the shore dark and undisturbed helps protect them and their hatchlings.

There is time here for an old-fashioned swing, another chapter of your book, and conversations that outlast the sunset. After dark, step onto a porch for stars overhead and moonlight across the sea, and listen to the surf and the sounds of the marsh.

Vintage Comfort Indoors
Inside, soaring 9-foot ceilings, plenty of natural light and luxury vinyl plank flooring in all three bedrooms set the tone. Traditional vintage furnishings and fresh bedding in every bedroom reflect a home loved across generations. The well-equipped kitchen is made for gathering, so compare the day’s discoveries over supper, then choose your porch for the evening. Starlink internet service keeps you connected for streaming and staying in touch.

Sleeping Accommodations: Sleeps 7
Three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, all on the second floor, give your group room to spread out, with porch access from every bedroom.

  • Primary Bedroom: King bed, private ensuite bath, TV, with access to both the creek facing porch and the ocean facing porch
  • Bedroom 2: Queen bed, shared Jack and Jill bath, opens to the ocean facing porch
  • Bedroom 3: Queen bed and futon, shared Jack and Jill bath, opens to the creek facing porch
Close to Edisto, an Hour from Charleston
Edisto’s local attractions, restaurants and shops are a short drive away. Charleston is about an hour away, where many famous festivals and events like Spoleto and SEWE are held, which makes Marsa’s Place a quiet seaside base camp. Plan a day in the city, then return to the creek, the sea and a slower rhythm.

Life is appreciated here
Our family had a wonderful stay! We were able to soak in all the quietness of nature around us! The house is very cozy and so quiet. We enjoyed sitting out on the porches and watching nature and just listening to the ocean. The sunsets were beautiful. My grandson loved the swing in the back! Just such a lovely visit. I think anyone that stays in this house feels the good memories that each family has had.

Thank you for the beautiful review! We're so glad Marsa's Place gave your family such quiet, memory filled moments, from the porch sunsets to your grandson on the swing. Come back and see us soon!

This is the only rental my husband will go
It is becoming “our home away from home.” “Marsa's Place” is roomy, handsome traditional furniture, excellent “family kitchen.” And the double floors of big PORCHES have gorgeous views. I spend 2/3rd of my time there rocking snd marveling at the panoramic sweep of marsh and sea, exotic birds flying about. The beach is not like the public beach. Private. An easy stroll or bike around pretty lagoons and you pop onto a beautiful shelling beach, great tor surfing or shelling, my husband surf fishing 10 hours a day. Drum, trout. The kids love the dock and deep water creek in the back yard for swimming and kayaking. Every year, dolphin visit. “Marsa's Place” forever for us!!!! Elizabeth

Marsa's Place
Tranquility, Serenity, Calmness, Rejuvenation! We found all of these at Marsa's Place! We had a wonderful vacation and didn't want to leave! This is a gated, quiet community, away from the many close houses and businesses you might find in Edisto Beach area. The house is a quality-built plantation style home with four porches with rocking chairs/swings on each. From the porches you can look out over the marshes (front and back), and can see and hear the ocean waves roll in a hundred (or so) yards away and feel the ocean breeze. You can watch and listen to the birds in the Live-Oak trees with Spanish moss and in the marshes. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and we even made a low-country boil at home. The living room had plenty of seating. The house displayed many shells and ocean finds in every room which we enjoyed looking at. This house has been a family retreat for many years and many fond memories have been made here. You could actually feel like you're visiting a family member's home as a guest while staying here. Although the house may not have the latest updates in decor, we didn't mind and we appreciated the traditional decor and all the things this property has to offer. There is a board-walk through the marsh to a dock where you can watch the tide roll in and out and can watch for dolphins and birds. The sunsets on the dock are beautiful! You can also fish or set a crab trap if you wish. We rented bikes and a cart for the week. We would bike to the beach/ocean (approximately 3/4 to 1 mile or so around a meandering dirt/gravel road in this private community) and we used the cart for hauling beach chairs, coolers, towel bags, etc. The beach is a private beach for this community and was very quiet! We may have shared the beach with 15-20 people in approximately 3/4 mile beach on the busiest beach day and very often we had the beach entirely to ourselves! There are many shells to see the collect as treasures and mementos of your vacation. We went on a evening/night walk on the beach, and we saw two mama Loggerhead turtles coming to shore to lay their eggs and/or returning to the water! It was an amazing God-sent blessing! When you return to the house at the end of your beach day, there is an outdoor shower under the house which is helpful to shower off the excess sand. There is also an outdoor shower at the dock for washing/cleaning fish/crabs. If you are seeking a quiet retreat, this is the place for you! If you are seeking to be in the midst of other houses/people/shoppes/restaurants, or if you are seeking a home where everything is completely renovated/updated, this is likely not the place for you. It was perfect for our family! Also, Carolina One Vacation Rental company was easy to work-with. They were friendly and responsive. I would definitely rent this house through them again!

Private Beach; Stunning Views; Serene
The access path to Edingsville Beach, contiguous to Edisto's public beach, is a pleasant stroll past lagoons to a two mile stretch of beach with not more than twenty or so folks scattered around. A broad beach where we see who can collect the most shark's teeth. It/s a great shelling beach. Dad surf fishes eight hours a day. When a school of spot tail bass hit all three poles at once, he went nuts. “Marsa's Place” is classy. Large rooms, 9' ceilings, good quallity, comfy traditional furniture. The four porches are GREAT for a panoramic view of the sea, the myriad exotic birds in the marsh. Big old. rocking chairs. Bliss. Bonnie,

This Place was So Cool
The family asked me to write the review. I'm seventeen. I drove my car with Big Sis in it from Atlanta. Listen up. “Marsa's Place” is the BEST! The views from all four balconies are gorgeous out of a movie. It was so quiet. Way cooler than Hilton Head. Mom said it costed half as much. Grandmommy loved the kitchen where she made a bathtub of spaghetti and we all sat around the kitchen table and chowed down. I'd make a sandwich to take out on our dock for lunch. And swim a little. Mainly two hours of sunbathing. So peaceful until a dolphin swam by. Not twenty feet away. Then I'd shower, get in my car and drive like five minutes to the public beach. All the kids in SC are cool. So nice. Then back to “Marsa's Place” and its big rooms. Classy. Best vacation ever! Mattie

Best Vacation Ever
Amazing views from “Marsa's Place”. Located on a little bar of land, the ocean in front, tidal creek and marshlands in back. It's quite private and tranquil, away from the public beach. On the ocean side, private beach walks, shelling and surf fishing. Both trout and spot tail bass. On the creek side, the kids had fun swimming and kayaking. Dolphin come into this creek!! We saw dolphins twice!! Exciting. The home is a handsome low country house with traditional vintage decor. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. Four huge porches, ceiling fans, rockers and swings. Gorgeous views. We'll be back this Fall.

Marsa’s Place has an ocean view and a back marsh and tidal river dock. Beautiful! The house is comfortable, but could use decor updating. Carolina One was excellent is supplying our needs.

Great location
We would not hesitate using your management company again. Your service was friendly and communications were clear. The house was dated, but was clean and we certainly appreciated that. The house was in a safe area with great views from the front and back of the house. We enjoyed the beach within a short walk and we spent time successfully fishing just out back.

Marsas place
I would recommend cleaning the mold from the ac vents in all the rooms. Truly loved the area and will Be back.

Tracie,
Thank you for your feedback! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time at Marsa's Place in Edisto and plan to return. Since your stay, the mildew on the HVAC registers has been cleaned. Unfortunately, this can be a common issue in our humid environment, but we’ll continue to address it promptly. We look forward to hosting you again!

Excellent
This was a last minute Morher’s Day weekend get away. We loved the lay out of the house and being able to open the French doors for the ocean breeze to come through. This was our second time staying in Cowpens in the last 5 months and again the location did not disappoint. We will see again soon!

Just perfect
What an amazing time my family and I had at this beautiful home. We live locally, but choose to get a way for a week now and then as break from the normal routine. Marsa’s place was perfect. We were so comfortable and cozy in the home. We loved waking up and looking out at the coast from one porch and then turning around and viewing the Marsh and its beauty on the other porch. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We look forward to staying there again!

Our best vacation ever
Our family is hard to please. I want tranquility. My husband wants to catch six or more spot tail bass surf fishing. Granmom wants a beautiful house with beautiful views. My kids want to catch crab and romp in the surf. My teenager wants to mingle on the beach with other teens she’s met here. Every one of us gave this vacation an “A+”. “Marsa’s Place” was perfect. A home that’s beautiful without being frilly. Big rooms. A great location for us, separate from the crowded main beach, but close enough for our teenager to get there to mingle. What a perfect week! Elizabeth

Marsa's Place
Marsa's place is one of those rare places you can go and commune with nature in an environment that also has unmatched access to a nearly private beach. Perched on a secluded peninsula with surf in front and marsh in back, it is a birdwatcher's paradise, and a great place for a quiet vacation or artist's retreat. Spend hours combing the shores looking for gorgeous shells; rock on the porch in the late afternoon with a glass of wine; sit on a private deck overlooking the marsh and watch the dolphins come in for a sunset cruise. We've spent a week there every year for 2 years running, and the adults and kids always look forward to sharing our time there together.

“Marsa's Place” is super special
I was there to enjoy the serenity and beauty. Also to beach walk and go crabbing off the dock at Marsa’s Place. Mission accomplished. What a WONDERFUL week! The rooms of the house are spacious and handsome. The four porches had rockers and swings and a hammock chair. Biking the trails of the park was great fun. “Marsa’s Place” is classy. And convenient to everything. My favorite times were walking the beach early in the day. And rocking on the front porch with a glass of wine in late afternoon. The view of the ocean through the twisted ancient oaks, enjoying the sea breeze, is just the right ending to a perfect day.

Cye,
