Dowry

The location of the Dowry and its accommodations are good! But the mattresses are in dire need of replacing! We were a group of nine adults on a working vacation. We needed our rest, but half of us were miserable due to lack of sleep. One bed felt like lying on old box springs. The renter had to sleep on top of the bedspread & throw pillows for cushion. Another had to resort to the couch nightly for comfort. We want to return next year and rent with Carolina One, but only if this problem is addressed. Otherwise, it was a great week! Personnel at the office were kind and professional. The house was clean and spacious. But for over $2K, good mattresses are expected.

The Dowry offers everything you need for a fun, relaxing vacation. You can view the ocean from the comfort of the large front deck, or simply cross Palmetto and you're on the beach! Amazing views to watch the sun rise, collect shells, or catch some rays. I highly recommend The Dowry if you're planning a trip to the island. It's a perfect place for a family vacation, Girls' Weekend, or a weekend of fishing with the guys. Edisto's Best Kept Secret! Can't wait to go back to The Dowry.

As always, the staff at Carolina One was very friendly and helpful. The Dowry was just right for our large family. It was roomy, clean, and had everything that we needed. The large space underneath was perfect for our family to gather, and we loved the ocean view and easy access to the beach. We will definitely stay there again!

We love "our" house at Edisto. We come every year and look forward to the next year before we leave. It's a time to have some of our adult children, and their children, together at the same time, and watch the cousins create wonderful bonds. We love the feeling of being in a safe, well patrolled,protected area, with emergency help near by if needed. We miss the "old" Edisto, as we have been visiting for over 35 years, but are thankful that limits are in place to keep it protected.

We have rented this house for many years. Love the location. Like us the house is showing some age but we look forward to coming back year after year.

We loved our ladies retreat at the Dowry. The property is dated but in the Edisto tradition. Excellent location with good parking. Plenty of beds and great water pressure! Nice large dining table was perfect for meals and games.

Dowry was a perfect fit for our growing family. There was easy access to the beach. Also, with an empty lot across the street, we enjoyed a nice ocean view.
