This festival is being held at Bay Creek Park on Friday, October 13th, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 14th, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday will include music from Cody Webb and his band with a bit of BBQ sampling. Saturday will have more food sampling and live music. There will be an admission fee to this festival of $5 per person on Friday. You can purchase food & drink tickets for $1 each. Whether you’re a seasoned BBQ judge or simply someone who appreciates the art of smoked meats, this festival offers an unforgettable experience.

Cooper Cay, located at 406 West Cooper, Folly Beach, is just a hop, skip, and jump from a beach access. This home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and sleeps up to 9 people. Plus, this home is pet-friendly so you can bring your favorite furry pal to the beach. While Cooper Cay does not offer a heated or private pool, it does offer a hot tub in the backyard. The amenities of this house are a fully stocked kitchen, stainless steel appliances including a gas stove, plenty of cabinet space for all your food, and a small table to eat dinner at. Don’t worry if you think there isn’t enough space at the kitchen table as there is a larger dining room table too!

Isle of Palms Beach Run

Are you staying in one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals and looking for something fun to do? Then look no further, as the annual Isle of Palms Beach Run is back on Saturday, July 29th, 2023. The 5k & 10K Run will begin at 8:00 am on the beach behind the Windjammer at 1008 Ocean Blvd, Isle of Palms. Don’t feel like running, then walk in their 5k walk or let the kids participate in the Youth Fun Runs at 8:30 am. There will be awards for the 5k and 10k runs after the fun runs for the kids. Registration online ends on Wednesday, July 26th, so register today! Who said you can’t exercise? Why on vacation?

19th Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival

Is running not your thing, no worries, we have you covered. On Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, the Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival is at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. Here you’ll be able to learn more about the culture of the Gullah Geechee people and their history and traditions, and even see their basket art made from sweetgrass. Admission to this festival is free and will be from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be other things to enjoy, like live entertainment and different activities. See how a basket is woven with sweetgrass and other crafts you can purchase. Think of the gifts you can go ahead and start getting for Christmas this year.

Movies in the Park

One of the best things about vacationing on Edisto Beach is its different activities and summer events. Join Edisto Beaches Movies in the Park on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, from 7:00 pm, and the movie will begin at dusk. Popcorn and admission into the event are free, and additional food and ice cream will be available for purchase. Bring your chair or blanket to sit back and relax while you watch the movie with the family. This event will take place at Bay Creek Park and is one you don’t want to miss.

Beaufort, SC, is a beautiful and quaint town in the heart of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Not to be confused with Beaufort, NC, this town offers some of the best charms in the area. Some of the things you can do here are shop the Historic District, explore the Port Royal Boardwalk, and even check out a few of the local restaurants. Beaufort is approximately 75 miles from Charleston, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and Edisto Beach.

Hilton Head Island, SC

Hilton Head Island is your spot if you want to travel further for some historic scenery. They are known for their incredible beaches, golf courses, and tennis, to name just a few. Located about 100 miles from our area, this will take about 2 hours to get to, but it’s a doable day trip. Some places to check out at Hilton Head Island are the Coastal Discovery Museum, local restaurants, and the Harbour Town Lighthouse.

Fort Sumter National Monument

Fort Sumter, South Carolina

Fort Sumter has been around for over 200 years and is a favorite among locals and visitors. It is not accessible unless you take the ferry about, and it’s on an artificial island. While the fort has no entrance fee, you must pay for the ferry ride on over. This is one of the shortest day trips to the area, but it is one you don’t want to miss!

Edisto Beach, SC

If you’re staying in Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, or Charleston, Edisto Beach is another favorite of the locals. This summer, they have many different things to do, like the 2023 Edisto Invitational Billfish Tournament, Edisto Beach Music & Shag Festival, and their weekly Bingo Tuesdays & Thursdays. Other things you’ll be able to enjoy are the beaches, local restaurants, and Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve.

Our Ultimate Vacation Rental Packing List

Now that you’ve booked your family vacation to the Charleston area, it’s time to start planning what to pack. We know it can be overwhelming when packing for the whole family, but we want to help plan what to pack. Carolina One vacation rentals do provide linens and a few starter amenities in each vacation rental for you. Let’s look below at a more detailed packing list to get you ready for your next beach vacation.

What We Provide in Our Vacation Rentals

For our Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes & Folly Beach properties, we provide all linens, bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths per person for maximum home occupancy. We also provide a start supply of products, including one roll of paper towels, one sponge, dishwashing soap, three trash bags, three dishwasher tablets, and two kitchen towels. Each bathroom will have one roll of toilet paper and at least 1 bar of soap. Each full bathroom will include one small shampoo, one small conditioner, and a small bottle of lotion. If your property comes with a grill, then we will provide one tank of propane to use with the grill.

For our Edisto properties, we provide bed linens, bath towels, and kitchen towels for the advertised occupancy of the home, along with bathmats for each full bathroom. You will also receive a complimentary tote bag filled with starter items like one roll of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, and a liner for each trash can.

Don’t Miss These Summer Events in the Charleston Area

Can you believe that spring is here and before you know it, summer will be here too? It’s hard to believe that it was cold just a few weeks ago in most of the US, but now the warmer months are here to stay. Staying in one of our Carolina One vacation rentals will keep you and your family close to some of the action. Look below at what events you don’t want to miss in the Charleston area this summer.

Charleston Carifest

If you’re looking for a little Caribbean vacation but don’t want to travel outside the states, check out the Charleston Carifest. This annual festival brings Bahamian Carnival Culture to the SC Coast, filled with music, parades, costumes, and more. Plus, you don’t want to miss being able to try some of the fantastic Caribbean food, such as jerk chicken, conch fritters, and Bahamian crawfish. Don’t miss this Caribbean festival from June 29th – July 1st, 2023, with the family!

 Movies in the Park

Are you staying in an Edisto Beach vacation rental and looking for something for the whole family to enjoy? Beginning July 12th, 2023, join at Bay Creek Park to take part in a free movie night! The movies will start around dusk, so bring your chairs and blankets to sit and watch a family-friendly film. Every 2nd Wednesday between July & September, a movie will play in the park, along with free popcorn. Other drinks and snacks will be available to purchase. Think of the fun the whole family will be to sit and watching a movie as you make new memories.

Don’t Miss the 2023 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition

Are you someone who loves nature and wildlife? If the answer is yes, you must attend the 2023 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. The SEWE will allow you to celebrate nature and wildlife for three days with events, fine art, and many exhibits to explore. This year the SEWE will take place on February 17th – 19th. Let’s look below at what you can do and learn more about the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston.

What is the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition?

The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, also known as SEWE, has been an annual event since 1983. For three days, you’ll be able to attend some exciting events, but you’ll also learn about supporting wildlife and nature in the area. The SEWE continues to contribute to not only the local economy but also support regional and state economies. Don’t miss out on this year’s Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, as you won’t want to miss out on the fun and help bring awareness about protecting natural environments in the area. It is also about celebrating our love for nature and wildlife.

How Can You Attend the SEWE?

If you talk to many locals, you’ll find that attending Southeastern Wildlife Exposition is an honor and so much fun. It has a lot of different kinds of entertainment events, but it also brings families together. Attending the SEWE is easy as 1, 2, 3 as you can get all tickets online. General admission will allow you to participate in several events and exhibits, including the petting zoo, browsing some unique wildlife & nature art & so much more. Plus, all kids under the age of 10 will not need a ticket to be able to attend lectures, demonstrations, and shows. There are other ticket options that you can choose from, including 3-day access, upgrade to VIP, and attending some special events.

Events & Exhibits in 2023’s Southeastern Wildlife Exposition

One of the best things about attending the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition is the events and exhibits each year. Dock dogs Competitions, Copley Fine Art Decoy Exhibit, Birds of Prey Flight Demos, etc. Some of the special events you can attend for an additional cost are Ducks Unlimited Oyster Roast & Lowcountry Cookout, Whiskey Tasting Experience, 2023 Lowcountry Social, and many more.

Attending this event that has been going on for almost 40 years is something you can’t miss.
